Hey im Nikita or (nikki),
I'm getting a baby axie very soon from a private breeder, I have read up on them and have been cycling my tank for the last month. I have been reading up on posts in the axolotl section and I have found this site very helpful.
I cant wait to get my baby he or she will be about 5cm when I get him/her. I'll post when I get my little one!

congrats!!! can't wait for pictures!

How big is your tank? Maybe room for more than one? :p

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
