Hi everyone
I'm Paul, and my little zoo in the North of England consists mainly of turtles, snakes and lizards, but I do have an adult golden axolotl, which is why I've joined up here to keep up to date with the husbandry and care.

I'm currently in the process of upgrading my axie into a big underbed storage box, and I'm working on the habitat to make it representative of the area in Mexico where they originate, including live native plants and such, but that is for another thread.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!
Paul

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
