My larvae are taking frozen bloodworm from pipette. They still only have front legs, though. Should I continue supplementing with brine shrimp, or will I be ok to put the hatchery away and just feed bloodworm?

The choice is yours really. I tend to celebrate the day they are big enough to eat bloodworm/chopped blackworm and put the brineshrimps away pronto.

Thanks, I'm trying to switch now, but I surrendered and started a new batch of brine shrimp. They just aren't getting the big tummies on the bloodworm, and I've lost two axies since I started using it. One was small and had never looked healthy, but one was one of my bigger, more robust individuals.

I HATEEEE brine shrimp LOL

I'm experimenting with this new clutch I just had, they've eaten nothing but live banana worms and daphnia, then live grindal worms, and now they are working up to chopped live tubifex worms.

They are 2 weeks old, their growth is still awesome!!
Nice fat bellies.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
