I have an Eheim Pickup 2008 in a 30x12x15 tank (50ltrs of water) and I've noticed that the water in the tank is going round in a circle on the surface and dragging around some Amazon frogbit I bought... will it be okay? it's getting to the point where there's bits of root floating about but it shouldn't be that much of a current as it's at its lowest setting:(

Unfortunately Frogbit is one of those plants that doesn't really like current, it prefers almost stagnant water. So it will not react well if the water continues to swirl like it is.

All you can really do is try and direct the flow of the filter against the glass so there's not so much current in the tank or you might be able to rig something up to disperse the flow out of the filter.
If it's swirling the surface it's probably doing the same to the rest of the tank further down as well.

Good luck
Mere.

Thanks Meredyth, I have moved the filter so it's stuck on the back of the tank and not the side and this seems to have stopped the flow of water going round and now the Amazon Frogbit just sits in the corner bobbing slightly

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
