Hi there, one of my juviniles was being kept in a container on top of a dresser, I thought out of harms way, had a lid on as well. But came in today to find my cat with it on the floor. She dosn't seem to have done any harm to it apart from flick it out of the container, but it was quite a fall onto the carpet below and he has been quite grazed by flipping around on the carpet, has become quite red/raw, and the tip of his tail looks like its been bleeding. I've put him in the fridge while i try and figure out what is best to do. poor little guy! any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. btw he was in the container because he had lost 2 limbs from his tankmates. Hes had a stressful time, I hope he pulls through! :(

Keep him in cool, clean water. Keep an eye out for fungus and I'm sure he will be fine :)

Thanks :) he does already look happier after being in the fridge for half an hour. fingers crossed

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
