Just wanted to let you all know of some interesting projects that are out there for the science/ interested in life kind of people that we are. Some of you probably already know about these projects or could possibly be involved in them. There is a listing of ongoing projects on the Scientific American magazine website here: Citizen Science
The Global Amphibian Bio Blitz is on there (which is currently linked in the banner on Caudata) as well as Frog Watch and The Encyclopedia of life. I thought the Encyclopedia of Life might be interesting for those on here that have some specialized knowledge of specific species or the field herping people. There are some really interesting projects available to participate in that make it possible for anyone to get involved.
I know that I'm itching to do some science :D

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
