Hi,
One of my axolotl larvae is very strange. He looks like hes incased in a bubble that runs from his chin right to the end of his tail. Could this be an air bubble in his tummy thats way out of control? He's very tiny compared to the others and doesn't appear to be eating (never an orange belly from brine shrimp) but has been like this pretty much since he hatched around 4 weeks ago and all of the other larvae are perfectly normal. Does anyone have any ideas of what could have caused this or what I could try to help him? I will try to get some pics uploaded.
~Thanks in advance

Sounds like it could be bloat. In larvae that small, it's usually terminal. It'd be best to humanely euthanize that larva, especially if it's not eating.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
