Just wondering, Is it better for younger axies to have warmer water? I heard that somewhere along the line, and that it helps them grow faster? Was just wondering if this was true? I'd MUCH rather know now, than put a heater in the tank & stress out / possibly kill my little guy! He's about 2 - 3 inches long, still just little. and yeah. Was just wondering because i heard that a while ago! Thanks!

They're absolutely fine in unheated water, and since a failing aquarium heater can raise the temp too high and cook your pets I wouldn't risk it. Besides, they're so cute when they're little, why rush? :)

It would be better if you don't write your messages in multi-colored text, it's really hard to read.

It's impossible to answer your question without knowing what temperature you have. "Warmer" than what? Chances are that you are better off without a heater. I agree with jinian's remarks.

Ah, sorry for the multi-colored. I was just in a colorful mood :D My temp is at about 20 right now i belive. i think im just going to leave it just incase. but yeah, was just wondering.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
