I have 3 axolotls, 2 im sure are female and male, but this lil bump got me confused :)
first pic, top lotl(Axel) im not sure of, second pic, for me thats an obvious male.
thanks in advance :) Also if Axel indeed turns out to be a male, do i need to remove one male? All three eat well and are active, havent seen any fighting, Are a little worried they might fight when they wanna mate.

still so much to learn.

I think you have 2 boys and 1 girl but axies do like to play games with us. They are tricky little monsters.
You wont have to worry about keeping them apart as long as you have enough hides, they should live together happily ever after:D.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
