Hey I have a fire belly newt that i got in november with another 4 fire bellies and I dont know why but he has not eaten at all, like ever. Never fed him not once. All the other ones eat, i feed them using tweezers. I have tried to feed him: pellets, bloodworms, mysis shrimp, and crickets. He's really skinny now but he still won't eat. I have quarantined him to see if he would eat separated, and he still wont. I have practically given up, looks like he wants to die and I cant force him to eat.
Any help/suggestions?

Re: H.orientalis eggs.

I suggest trying earthworms or wax worms. Is the temperature right?

Re: H.orientalis eggs.

Some newts object to being tweezer fed. Try leaving him in a separate container with some bloodworms (live if possible). Try to count them first, so you know if any have been eaten. Also, make sure there is a dark area in the container for him to hide in and feel secure.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
