Hi, New here and to newts in general. I have a few community freshwater tanks, and a newly setup 29L Asian biotope with 4 FBNs that I found at the LFS. I wanted to see how the 4 of them worked out, and learn more about them before I added more. After reading on here, Im pretty sure they are all WC. They were kind of sluggish when I bought them, but after a week of good woork, room to lounge, and 66 degree(LFS had them at 82!!!) water theyre doing great! Heres a couple pics

Nice tank! And good luck with the FBN. As you probably know, this species is notorious for having all sorts of problems when they're imported. But yours all look good, nice and plump!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
