Does anyone know if an axolotl can survive boxed up in a deli cup size container for 2 days? Dianna didn't hear the UPS man knocking so they didn't get left at the door. She tried to pick them up at the main office but was told to come back and get them tomorrow because the truck they were on won't be back until after the office closes. Do you think the axolotls will survive another night or should I go camp out at the office after they close and wait for the truck hoping the driver will let me take them?

I wouldnt say it is ideal by any means but they are tough little sods. temperature and oxygen availability would be the main concern. if the container doesnt contain enough free oxygen they will suffocate.

I have shipped out literally hundreds of axolotls by priority shipping (2-3 days) this year. Guess how many died on the way? NONE.

Thanks for the replies. I picked the little guys up this morning and both are a little skinny but otherwise fine :) Now to fatten them up and name them...

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
