my axolotls have laid eggs four times now two of the batches hatched lived for a couple weeks and then died. i have yet to see how these next two batches go, they have not hatched yet. anyways i was wondering from start to pellets stage how are you supposed to care for them. the live food i was feeding them to is daphnia. so any info on what im suposed to do or things i may have done wrong, would be great thanks!!!

Have a look around this site. All the info you need is right here. I think in the caudata.org sites it has a section that goes from egg to hatchling.

Maybe try baby brine shrimp for food. You might have more luck with those. Good luck!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
