Axolotl off balance

Hi there one of our little axolotls (Marshmallow) has been worrying me a bit today.
She's swimming about quite happily and responsive to me when I look over her, her appetite has been completely fine and normal but she appears to be really off balance and keeps wobbling over to her right side.
Her stomach is very very round, she's been chubby for a little while now but never in a concerning way but it looks abnormal to me today.
There's nothing in her tank she could eat or swallow (we have sand), we have 2 other axies in the tank and they're completely fine not round or anything.
Any help would really be appreciated we're really worried about our little girl

If it's just been today I'd say wait and see if it passes, if it continues just put her in a shallow container ( just enough to cover her body ) and she should be able to right herself. Probably just gassy or very full! ;]

I have a similar problem with mine, I found her upside down today. I righted her by getting to attack my finger as I thought the worst had happened. She is now in a container, but I am worried. She lives with 3 other Axies and various fish and they seem happy as Larry. Will this pass? has anyone had anything like this before?

Thanks Calum

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
