I have had 4 Tylototriton cf. Kweichowensis since the beginning of July. I made the mistake of buying them from an online vendor. I received 4 adults. 1 female and 3 males. I have wanted them to lay eggs. I did a lot of research on breeding newts and salamanders and moved them into a 40 gallon aquarium. I have one of my males is chasing after my female. The water is about 10cm deep. Here is some pics and videos of the habitat and animals. The tank is very easy to renovate. I need some ideas to get them to lay. All suggestions are and criticism is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, here are the pics and Videos.

Is my female gravid or just plain fat?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
