I just bought the tank with 2ftLx1ftD and I'm not sure whether it would be big enough for two axies I would consider buying. Any advice would be appreciated.

Full grown, no. Young yes. But you will need a new one soon so why waste your time wig a small tank

I have a 2tt 6 x 1ft, and I thought it would be big enough for 2, but after having my 7 inch monster live in it for a few months it already seems a little small for just him, so I am upgrading to a 3ft. So I would definitely say that a 2ft is too small for 2, and I personally wouldn't put an adult in a 15 gallon tank.

I keep 2 axies in a 20 gallon just fine, and have been for ages. both are adult specimens. but my tank is heavily filtered by a internal power filter that feeds a chiller and then a overhead trickle filter that also acts as a plant filter too which sucks all of the nitrates from the tank.

I wouldn't recommend it if you're a beginner. you may get away with one if the tank is cycled and maintained religiously.

Yeah I was thinking about just getting one baby, so by the time I move out of this place at the start of next year I'll be able to buy a bigger tank before he/she gets too big for this one.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
