Hi all,

Just wanted to say thank you for the help and advice I've got from forum members of this forum.

I started out thinking that I'd done thorough research before allowing my son to have axolotls for his birthday at the end of March. In truth, I should have done more research and waited to get the axolotls for his Christmas instead.

Still, with forum members help, and the really excellent articles, we've successfully navigated these first few important weeks and I'm now less stressed and more confident in taking on 'ownership' of these wonderful little creatures and happy to say that my son has taken the responsibility of looking after them very seriously.

Thanks

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
