It looks like some species of Desmognathus, but i´m unable to specify more. Somebody else will, i´m sure.
I hope you are not keeping the two species together as Desmognathus are highly aggressive!

No, they are being kept apart. I don´t mix different types together.

That's definitely a dusky, but identifying species is difficult without locality data.

Thanks for the help location is not known he was dumbed on a local petshop that doesn't deal with newts or salamanders and knowing that i have CFB the owner give him to me.Few questionstion how big of an encloser does it need and is it land or water.I take it it needs both right. Thanks for any help

Duskies are pretty large and active. With whatever setup you do, I wouldn't do anything less than a 20long. Some are aquatic and some are terrestrial. Hopefully someone with better dusky ID skills will chime in.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
