Hello everyone, i'm new for this forum. I'm italian but i live in osterreich.
I have received for free today a Paramesotriton sp adult from a friend who doesn't want to keep it anymore.
I'm not a newbie about newts but now i need your help... When i arrived at home i find a particular hole in the labial area near the mouth of the newt and something strange near the eye on that side. In general the animal seems to be healthly, a bit fat in my opinion and for this reason slow in movement and not particularly reactive...
I'm now contacting my friend for an explanation about this but can anyone help me here?
Thanks a lot and sorry for my bad english!

Doesn't look like a parasite to me, it is most likely just an injury which shouldn't cause any problems.

It reminds me of Lucilia bufonivora, but i´m not aware of similar parasites affecting caudates, and i doubt Lucilia would attack Paramesotriton....
