Size Difference

Question:
Hello all, I am new to axolotl care and I currently own two. I purchased one 2 months ago and he is 4 months, and about 3.5 inches. I recently purchased another younger one, only about 1.5-2 inches, significantly smaller! They are currently seperate. Would they be ok to be put together?

At that size and the fact one is almost twice the size, I would say no. Any part of the small one that will fit in the bigger ones mouth will be ripped off and eaten potentially. If the tank is big enough you could combine them but keep a divider in place.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
