Can anyone diagnose this? (yellowish gill tips)

My axolotl is a wildtype, he is eating, walking, and swimming fine, in a 20 gal tall all to himself. But his gills appear to have a bright yellowish colored tip to each of them. He hasn't always had these, I'd say for a few months now now. He is about a year old. Is this normal? Pictures are kind of difficult to see, but they are the best I could do. Any help would be appreciated.

I couldnt see anything in the photos sorry. Im guessing it is his colouring. If it doesnt look like cotton wool then i would keep an eye on his water and diet and enjoy your friend.
