Hey all,

I've been lurking on the site for a few weeks now and finally decided I'd sign up and see what was going on. I'm the new owner of a juvenile Axolotl and have been spending a good amount of time reading up on the all great information posted here. So far it has been really helpful and will certainly aid me in caring for my new pet. See you around.

Welcome offically to Caudata!! Do you have a pic of your little juvie?

That I do. Just a quick picture I took before moving him to a small container where he will reside until he is big enough for the 20L.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
