Im am the proud owner of a female axolotis wild type, I have other pets including ornamental goldfish and a small dog, I have just always been a nature lover, I am so fascinated with my new pet, I have named her Marley because her gill look like dreads to me. My son thinks she is the coolest thing I have ever purchased for my aquarium I joined the site because I want Morley the be the healthiest she can be, and I can get help if I ever need it..So John thank you for giving us this site and your expert insight to care for our marvelous pets. Honey

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
