Hi!

I came home from school today to discover that my albino, Boo, has laid eggs! She is in with my male wildtype, Pickle. I can see spermatophores so I'm thinking I'll have some babies on the way. I've been on here doing some research on how to rear them and I think I'm up for the challenge (am a little nervous though). I have a couple questions that I couldn't find answers for: I know that I need to separate the eggs from my adults, but I was wondering when? I'm worried that if I move them too soon they won't get fertilized. Today is just day one so I thought I'd leave them until day 4, then I'll have a better idea if they're good - is that ok? If I don't move them right away are my monsters going to eat them?

Also, I just wanted to let you all know that if they do survive I won't be able to keep them, so if there is anyone in the Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) area looking for lotls please let me know :)

thanks!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
