How to clean sand substrate?

Im gonna head to the fish market tmro to pick up some fine sand substrate and im just wondering what the best way to clean the feces from the sand is?

hi ya, i have sand also and i find that getting a large turkey baster or a very large syringe type object is very effective. you can take up the waste without disturbing the tank or axies too much.

Hey looks like its case closed but I just wanted to say that you can use an aquarium vaccume which basically take the water lower (into bucket when you do a water change) and it creates a gravity vaccume. Another thing is is you tank is cycled most of the waste will break down itself
