Hi, I am new to the site and we are from Perth, Australis and we have 2 axolotls :D

Welcome to the site Tammii. I hope you find the site as helpful as I do, There are some great people here who freely share their knowledge about these amazing creatures.

You are not the only one from Perth here there are a few others too. I am in South Australia and we get warm weather as well so I have a chiller for my axolotl to keep it cool during our hot summers. I found this site really helpful when deciding what to purchase to look after my axie.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
