Hey everyone,

I had a rather specific question and with all the great minds on this site I figured someone would have some incite. I just bought a water hyacinth for my outdoor pond and its beautiful. It is sending off baby plants now. The pond also contains bullfrog tadpoles. Does anyone think if I move some baby plants into my indoor axolotl tank it will harm the lotls? I'm only thinking I don't want them to get introduced to a sickness or parasite the tadpoles may potentially have. I don't want to risk it if that's a possibility. I don't know if plants can transfer such a things. Thanks!!

If your worried about disease you can quarantine the plant in a container for a week and that should be enough time for any bad things on there to die. I haven't quarantined plants before so I don't know if the plants themselves will survive this because they won't get much nutriance. If they die you can try again and use plant fertiliser.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
