Hi all ! New to axies. Just ordered a leucistic & a golden albino. Sooo excited to recieve them. Now i know the basic difference between leucistic & the white albino...but is there a difference in the gills? One prettier than the other?

Not really, just depends on what you like whether or not one is prettier than the other. I like leucistics myself.

sometimes Leucistics can have darker red and black patches in the stalks of the gills. They can also have black freckles around their body along with the dark eyes. The pink parts of the gills are usually the same, in both types they will appear more red when they are active. They overall prettiness of the axolotls gills is usually up to the genetics of the axolotl and not the colour of the individual. Some have big fluffy ones and some have short stumpy ones.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
