So I'm waiting for a 30 gallon that my friend is giving me but in the meantime I will be using a temporary plastic storage bin to keep 2 juvies in.

It is a large one and I only have it filled 1/3. I am just wanting to know if anyone has experience with plastic tubs. I know a lot of people breed with tubs because they're cheap and easy to find but am just wondering what is a safe depth.

Any experience or advice appreciated :p
I know it's not pretty to look at but it will due for a week or two.... riiiight? haha

They aren't in there yet so just wanting to make sure before I put them in.

Pic is included (and a quarter at the bottom so you have an idea of how big the tank is)

Thanks!

I would say it would work fine as a temporary tank, fill it up as much as you want so the wastes aren't concentrated, also if you have an internal filter or airstone add it in too.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
