As I was changing my axies' water a few days ago I happened to notice what looked like a live blood worm swimming in rapid figure 8s in the water I removed from the tank. This is pretty mind blowing because I have never fed them live blood worms, only frozen. And they have been eating strictly earthworms for several weeks now. Could it be a parasitic worm? Or possibly somehow a live blood worm time traveler? I have no idea. I have never seen a live blood worm before so I don't know how they behave

I found another one. On closer inspection it seems they have a segmented body, and a paler colored "neck", and possibly the tail end is split at the very end. It seems like it is trying to dig. Anyone have any ideas as to what this thing is?

Well I looked at a few blood worm pics and I think that's what it is. Maybe there were some eggs on the Java moss I put in last week. Weird!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
