Hi everyone,
I am a herp enthusiast from Michigan and have been an admirer of this site for a long time but have just never actively posted anything. The information from these forums and the caudata culture website have been invaluable to me, and have helped me keep my cynops orientalis alive for 9 years and counting! Hopefully I can contribute to this great community.

Welcome to the forum! You'll find lots of Michiganders here!

I am a fellow Michigander enthused about salamanders. Welcome to the forum. On the hunt for Tremblay's, Eastern Tiger, Four-Toed, and Red eft this summer and fall.

Welcome.

Also from Michigan. Where abouts are you located? There are several of us from Michigan here.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm originally from Farmington Hills but now live in Ann Arbor. Glad to see so many other Michiganders on board.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
