Hi all! I'll be getting my first GFP [leucistic] Axolotl in the mail today. thanks to michael! Just a couple questions..
-How long can I leave the blacklight on the Axolotl without causing injury? I understand the rays can be harmful.
-How would breeding go with an albino, another leucistic (with wildtype genes), or a wildtype? What percent would be GFP?
Pics when it arrives :D I already have a 10 gal set up for the lil one.

Please don´t use a black light at all. It´s bad enough that natural light already causes fluorescence...actively inducing intense periods of fluorescence is just animal abuse...

Okay, I won't.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
