So i have recently just put my male and female axolotl together, it has only been three days and this wierd eggsack looking thing has appeared out of no where? i was wondering if someone could help me id it. its not very big its probably about the same size and dimension of a jelly bean.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks carlito

the male laid a spermatore (big ol' glob of sperm) and will probably try having the female walk over it. If she does then you could be looking at eggs soon

by the pics I would say the albino is your male, if the wildtype is a male too then nothing will happen, but if female he could get her near it.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
