Okay months ago I posted some pictures of my giant plush axolotls and several people wanted to know where they could get them or the pattern. My husband hand made them and isn't willing to part with the pattern. Doing a little research I could find no mass produced plush axolotls, then a company I watch released a picture of a mock up, and finally a prototype. This fall there will be giant squishy plush axolotls! The picture is from their website. http://www.squishable.com/p/mini_squish_axolotl_7/talk#commentary

I was really excited when I heard that Squishable was working on an Axolotl, but so far I am not that impressed with their prototypes... I guess it's hard to put an axolotl into ball form and still make it look Axolotl-y enough. :p

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
