So I was told by an optometrist that I had a slight coloboma in both of my eyes. Basically what happens is in the womb your eye doesn't fully develop leaving your iris funkily shaped. It is caused by a number of things in my case, a heart defect. (I have quite the collection of health issues) but I after cleaning Andy's tank I started taking pictures because he was being cute. And in one of the close ups you can see that his pupil is not completely round either. Fate? I believe so.:yin-yang:

In my eye you can see it in the top right area of my pupil
In Andy's it is in the lower left.
Kiiiinda crazy.

Even though it may be normal in salamanders, it's still kinda cool to have something in common with him. What's the old saying?... "Owners looking like their dogs (pets).

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
