Hi, I have been looking through this site and found it very helpful.
I have just bought an axolotl and named her Lotty (hence member name).
I will place a pic in a feed later. This is my first axo, but I used to keep tropical fish. My sister had one many years ago, about 35 years (thats when I first saw one).

Welcome aboard, Lotty! (and to your owner, as well!) ;)

Looking forward to seeing photos of your newest family member.

Thanks for the welcome. I have posted a pic of Lotty in the axolotl section under general as I asked if she is overweight.
Thanks. Ian

Yay a fellow newbie
Nice to know there are other new people out there
:D
You are very lucky to have a new member of the family
I'm still trying to find somewhere to get one
All the best to Lotty

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
