Just wanted to say hi
Found this site while searching out info on axolotls, there was just so much good info I had to go ahead and sign up
I will be setting up a DIY chiller in the next few weeks and will be getting the tank ready as well

Right now I have no amphibians, I have mostly angelfish and catfish
I have 4 freshwater tanks, 2 at 55 gallons, 1 at around 8 gallons, and another at 10 gallons
I will post pics in the appropriate section soon :)

The axolotl will be going into my new 20 gallon long i got a couple weeks ago
Ive wanted an axolotl ever since i first saw one in a picture when I was a kid
I found it in that green box full of cards with pictures and details of exotic animals
Anyone remember the Wildlife Treasury? lol

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
