Hello...my Rocky loves to be hand fed. I tried once and it scared me when he came after my finger. Luckily my bf has been doing it. But he's leaving for a year in winter and I need to get more comfortable with him. What does it feel like when he goes after the food and touches your finger? And what do some of you guys feed your axie? Mine likes crickets but they are so hard to hold onto. And I want him to have a good diet. Thanks!!:D

Use tongs.

It's much better than sticking your whole hand in the tank, and it prevents them from biting.

I feed mine earthworms and he loves them. The way they wiggle around is a great incentive for them to snap down. :) Hahaha

And don't worry too much when they come after your finger. So many times Toothless has come after my hand, even when I'm holding food. The silly thing. It just feels like someone lightly pinching you, in a sense (and not even that); their teeth are meant for gripping, not tearing!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
