Hi
I couldnt find how to add a new post so Ive done it here.
I have 2 fire salamanders. I have no idea what sex they are and I have had them for about 4 years.
The other day when I moved them to clean them out one got on top of the other in a small plastic holding tank (I have never seen them do that anywhere before) so I may have one of each?
Anyway. One of them has got really really fat. (I have tried to add a photo but it asks me for an http address for the photo and wont let me copy and paste it from My pictures).. I am worried that he/she may be poorly, have an impacton? (although always had the same substrate). He/she is still active and eating well and doesnt particularly eat any more than the other normal size one.
Any ideas please?
Thanks
Sue

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
