Hello folks out there i am very new to axolotls and this is my very first one i am very informed on food, temperature, and subtrate but i fear my axolotl is not doing well i first got him and had high ph but got that down to a safe point and then had trouble with temperature rising but found my solution to that I just put in a new filter last night and used drift wood to disperse the water flow but now since i got the temp down and the filter and drift wood hes very lethargic and wont eat when before the changes he would take down black worms like spaghetti what could be wrong please help I'm in bad need and time is crucial!!!!!!

Ok, here are some questions that may help :D
How long have you had it?
Could you maybe post a picture of your axolotl and its set up?
How long has it been lethargic?..axolotl aren't usually that active.
How long since it has eaten?
How did you reduce your ph?

Axolotls really just like to left alone and disturbed as little as possible. It sounds like there has been a lot of goings on in your tank recently so your axolotl is probably stressed out. Let it calm down for a few days and hopefully it will start feeding and become active again.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
