We didn't cycle the tank but we did leave the water sitting out for about a week to de-chlorinate naturally. Also the same water we transported them home in is the same water in their tank. We're getting a pH testing kit in the mail soon. My other one seems to be doing fine though I think he likes being in the dark.
Yes "chlorine" does "chloramine" does not. It's not very common that the municipal water supplies use it anymore, but some still do and you should call your local water supplier and find out.
Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation
Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
