My account has a small album with a few pictures of Axel. Ive had him for about 2weeks now. When i got him the guy at the store said two years but im positive i miss heard him lol! i have no idea how old he is and if im feeding him too much? help???

I don't think it's taht easy to tell the age of a newt, but post pics and pelple can tell you if it's too skinny.

there are pix on my page :)

He's definitely not 2 that's for sure, I would say maybe a year? Also you goal is for the widest bit of their bodies to be as big as their heads, how much are you feeding at this stage? :)

How long is he? Over 6 inches a year or older. Under 6 inches less than a year. It's a guess but a good one.:bowl:

i have 2 males that are 8 close to 9 inches & they are 11 months , big males & the female from the same eggs that is 6 inches

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
