Does anyone know what's wrong with his tail?

He's had this for a while, he eats, swims and everything just fine. I'm not sure what is wrong with his tail, the clear part is going further and further on his tail. What do I do to get rid of this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

It just looks like a tail regenerating to me, keep an eye on it, if it goes fluffy it is fungus. Nice bit of green on that axy, could you put a full pic up?

As said, just looks like tissue growing to me. I've found it's more common in juveniles but it's nothing to worry about.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
