For those of you who enjoy watching axolotls eat, I got a great photo tonight. Bad quality, but great in personality. It reminded me of Cthulhu.

It seems one of my guys doesn't know about taking bites and tried to stuff a whole worm into his mouth at once. It's the end and a loop of the single worm, not a bunch of them. While I'm on the topic of weird eating habits, I'll also add a photo of one of my ball python hatchling's weird eating habits. She likes to stand straight up when she's eating. Freaked me out the first time I saw it.

That picture wouldn't be so adorable if the axie didn't have this cute look on his face like "Me? Destroyer of Worlds? Nahh!"

My ball does that too. Helps things slide down, I guess. Yours ever try to eat food backward? They just don't understand aerodynamics.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
