My name is Bex, I'm from Southeast Michigan. My fiancé and I have a small menagerie of critters. He has a 30 gallon guppy tank, and a very antisocial female betta. I have a small ACF, who was a pity purchase because she was so emaciated, but I'm quite fond of her already. I have a koi, and my son's goldfish that we're growing out for a 300 gal indoor water garden, and 3 bettas.
I'm also trying to start a feeder colony of guppies, platies, and shrimp, so she can have a somewhat natural diet, and I don't have to worry about diseases and parasites.

We also have 6 rabbits, 2 cats, and a toddler. :)

Eventually, I want to put together my 50 as a planted tank for her. I feel that letting her hunt and act like a wild frog will keep her mentally stimulated.

She's such a neat little frog, and I want to do the best I can for her.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
