Hi all! My name is Jess, and I am from Saskatchewan Canada! I have 5 children, 4 boys and 1 girl. My two oldest boys (7 and 9) are really into amphibians and reptiles. We have a beautiful tiger (?) Salamander, and we are looking at some tree frogs. We are not sure what kind yet. We also have turtles which we just got over the weekend! It is a wonderful thing, to research, learn about and care for pets with my sons! I look forward to talking with everyone! I'm quite the novice right now, so hoping that all of you seasoned salamander owners out there might be able to give me some advice! Enjoy the day!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
