Hi,
My name is La'Shanta. I don't have any salamanders. I have wanted an Axolotl for years. My husband has always refused to allow "lizards and rodents" into his house. We are no longer together, and I am therefore preparing my home for a new member. I have seen several people selling them, but have seen several warnings about receiving "so-called axolotls" as well. I have every attention of purchasing one, but am patient enough to wait until his/her home is ready and until I am sure it is a good pet I am purchasing. Oh, I am from the United States (Georgia).

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
