Have you guys seen this yet? It's a really cool Super Mario aquarium, and I'm trying to figure out how exactly the creator made it. After some google searches, it seems that the creator used lego blocks to make the basic shapes, then painted them all white with spray paint (for a base,) then hand painted them with acrylic paint for the colors. That doesn't seem ok as far as tank dynamics go! I mean, is there some way of sealing these so that the paint doesn't leach or chip off (for a little fishy to swallow?) It's extremely awesome, but I also expect that cleaning the algae off would be a nightmare in under a month.
Opinions? Ideas on how this was done, or whether it's even safe? I also see some clear tubing holding up the blocks on the left side of the tank, but I can't quite figure out what they are.
Check out the link for pics, and a video.

the clear tubes holding up the blocks are just that, clear plastic tubes. You can get them in most fish stores. They also come with undergravel filters.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
