I got into Fire Belly Toads and Fire Belly newts in the middle of 2011. I had 4 toads down to 3 now. Also had 3 newts down to two than one went awall so down to one. I got two new Newts one was free because it had a leg missing. Sadly to say he/she didn't make it 24hrs :( If you want to know anything else about me just ask me anything other pets, music, fishing, etc

Hi & welcome :)

I hope you fixed the escape route so the new newts don't go A.W.O.L too

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
