I recently started with clay sculpting and thought it could be fun to post pictures on the progress, I know that a few play with clay on this forum-.

Anyway. This is my first figure, and I guess a frog of some sort.

First picture is on how I build the aluminium armature, well not the armature for this one but that is how one can do.

Everyone should try this btw, it's extreamly fun.

Wow, man, that is quite impressive.
I attempted a small figurine maaaaaaaaany years ago when i played Warhammer but it was too hideous to exist so i ended up throwing it away xD
Keep us posted, please, it´s looking really good!

Thanks man! It takes so much time tho when one dont know anything about muscular anatomy, but practice is your friend hehe.

I will upload more pictures when I have more to show.

For someone who claims to not know anything about anatomy you´ve managed to do some muscles very nicely!
Is the toad monster thing part of a theme or just a capricious one off? I do "models" too (made of yarn, though xD) and the most fun is when you just improvise!
Do you have any finished models? If you do, please share, i´d love to see them.

I have never tried anything like this so in one way i have no knowlage about anatomy. I will say this tho, it's 50times easier than drawing, and as the clay never harden(except if boiled or baked in oven) you can work on it for months if you so whant.
Well I have a few pictures I get inspiration from, but the pose and the toad theme is mine, and the finished result will probably end up much from my fantasy and ofcourse inspiration from pictures, but its not a copy of a figure.

Figures made of yarn sounds interresting:)

Not so much new, but I guess the base work on the back and most of the chest is done, only detailing and so left on those parts..

And few wart to show you how that looks.

Some new stuff for you Azhael. Never finished that toad sculpt, got bored, and have done a few of tries which have ended up the same way.

This one however I started on yesterday, and this one I will finish.

:O How dare you begin a project and then abandon it?? *looks at the mountain of unfinished crochet projects hidden in the cupboard* Nevermind....

It´s looking great, man. I´m really impressed with some of the musculature, you are very talented! Love the tail, it makes it look like a kind of weretaricha xD

Great muscle work and detail on the hands. Hand work is what keeps me from doing sculptures that involve stuff with hands.

Thanks guys.

Azhael. I will not abandon this one promisse:) 10days more to work on it and I have a deadline as this one is a gift.

GlowingCool. I knew hands would be hard when I first started to play wit clay. This is my first try with hands and first real try with underarms, and so far it have not turned out as bad as exspected at least.

Forgotten to mention that this will be more like a diorama, with rocks, trees and a few lobs. I have a pretty fun theme going on I think

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
